Nutribullet Pro 900 Blender Review
Nutribullet Pro 900 Blender Review
In this post, I am going to provide an honest review of the popular Nutribullet Pro 900 blender. I will examine its features, abilities, value and list the blender’s overall pros and cons. Keep reading if you are still on the fence about whether this blender is right for you.
I have owned the Pro 900 for about two years now, using the blender for a variety of recipes usually 1-3 times per week. As a home cook, I can say that I have put this blender through the wringer and can confidently speak on what this small machine can and can’t do. First let's take a look at what your purchase comes with at its current (Sept. 2023) pricepoint of $109.99.
Includes:
1 - 900 watt blender base
1 - Blender blade
2 - 32 oz blender cups
2 - To-go lids
2 - Cup rings
2 - Handled cup rings
1 - Recipe Book
For nearly $110, this purchase comes with a decent amount of cups and lids. Personally, I found the inclusion of two blender cups and two to-go lids to be the most useful. Having a back-up cup and lid when I haven’t gotten around to doing the dishes yet is certainly very handy. I hardly use either the cup rings or the handled cup rings, as they are not necessary for sipping directly out of the cup or taking the cup to-go. If you are someone who prefers holding a handle versus holding the cup with your hand (especially when you have a cold smoothie in your cup), the handled cup rings would be perfect for you.
Features:
900 watts
32 oz capacity
6 pronged blade
The Pro 900 is surprisingly powerful. Not only does the blender easily blend frozen fruit, ice, nuts, or leafy greens such as kale, it usually takes only 1-2 minutes to get a perfectly smooth drink. In my experience, you can get a fully incorporated drink 99% of the time. 1% of the time, I will find an unblended ice chunk or frozen strawberry, but this does not bother me. The powerful blender also grinds table sugar to powdered sugar, oats into oat flour, or peanuts into peanut butter with ease. Against wet, dry, or frozen ingredients, the Pro 900 tackles all.
The 32 oz capacity is a great size for single serve smoothies or juices. Sometimes, I actually make too much even when just filling my ingredients to the MAX line and will save the extras in the freezer for another time. I have found if I am making something at a larger scale, such as a week’s worth of green juice, I will need to do multiple rounds of blending in order to make a large batch.
Value:
For many, a blender’s main purpose is for smoothies and protein shakes. The Pro 900 is great for a quick and painless smoothie or shake that fully incorporates all ingredients. With that being said, for $110 you could buy a $5 smoothie once per week for 22 weeks before meeting this price point. However, if you want to be able to do MORE than just smoothies and protein shakes, this blender will be your best friend in the kitchen.
As I mentioned above, the Pro 900 easily grinds dry ingredients such as sugar, oats, or nuts. Out of powdered sugar? Throw a cup of granulated sugar into the blender for powdered sugar in under 1 minute. Out of nut butter? Put 1 cup of roasted peanuts or almonds in the blender for creamy nut butter in under 3 minutes.
On top of frozen drinks and dry ingredients, you can also make hot foods such as soups and sauces. At a small scale, this blender is a great alternative to an immersion blender. For example, after sauteing or roasting tomatoes, the Pro 900 blends this ingredient into a silky tomato soup or velvety tomato sauce (Heads up: it is important to let hot ingredients cool down for a few minutes before putting them into the blender). A simple pancake or waffle batter comes together in just a few minutes by blending all of the ingredients instead of mixing in a mixing bowl. This blender has helped me put together so many great recipes over the past few years. In my experience, the use of the Pro 900 is only limited to your imagination!
Reliability:
After about 1 year of frequent use of my blender, I did notice the motor started to slow down a little and the plastic gauges where the smoothie cup connects with the base began to require more force. At first, I was worried that the blender was ready for the kitchen gadget graveyard, but after taking the bottom apart and giving the interior a good clean, the blender was quickly back to running at full speed. Similar to most kitchen appliances, it is always a good idea to give the interior a solid clean every once in a while. Youtube is a great resource for guides on taking your blender apart. Here is a really helpful video I found: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRD--qrbZHw
Overall Pros & Cons:
Pros:
Powerful blades and motor
Great single use capacity (32 oz)
Variety of uses (smoothies, shakes, nut butters, oat flour, powdered sugar, soups, sauces, and more)
Provides VALUE for its price point
Cons:
May leave an ice chunk or whole piece of frozen fruit every once in a while
Some accessories may not be useful for some
Need to clean interior after 1 year/ extremely frequent use
In Conclusion:
Someone looking to meet their daily protein goals or add more greens and fruits in their diets would find the Nutribullet Pro 900 to be a great gadget for this purpose. In addition to killing the smoothie game, this blender can be used for a variety of other recipes. If you are looking for a reliable, powerful blender that provides excellent value for its price point, the Nutribullet Pro 900 series is the one for you!
